CARLOW INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY SPORTS PITCHES

The project concerned the delivery of a phased project on the South Campus that included 1 x GAA Grass Pitch, 1 x GAA 4G All Weather Pitch, 2 x Rugby Grass Pitches, 2 x Soccer Grass Pitches, Surface Carparking, 400m synthetic Athletics Running Track, Perimeter Jogging / Exercise Track, Maintenance Building and a Sports Pavilion Building.

Sports pitches floodlighting was provided by high efficiency new generation LED luminaires and electronic programmable system designed in accordance with the requirements of CIBSE LG-4. The perimeter jogging/exercise track and carpark areas were also illuminated using LED fittings and CCTV cameras were provided for security and safety purposes.

The initial stage of the project involved a high degree of collaboration with the ESB and IT Carlow Estates Department with regard to planning the diversion of existing overhead and underground medium voltage and low voltage power services. The projects Security, CCTV, BMS, Communications and Fire Alarm systems are linked to the main campus centre via a new fibre network connection. The new site services were planned in a manner to suit the phased project construction.

The Pavilion Building in a single storey building and includes team changing rooms, welfare facilities, meeting room and storage rooms and was delivered as part of the second construction phase.
